The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body and is a common area of musculoskeletal complaint with up to 30% of the population experiencing shoulder pain in their lives and 50% of the population can experience an episode once a year. Common complaints of shoulder dysfunction are weakness and pain in the shoulder (often into specific range of movements), tenderness on a specific location, more pain with overhead activity, reaching behind your back, lifting and sleeping on the side of pathology. The range of movement is often compromised in the shoulder however on occasions the range of movement is maintained but has a specific range of pain.
Common shoulder pathologies include: Rotator cuff tendinopathy, adhesive capsulitis, sub acromial pain syndrome, degenerative ACJ, upper cross syndrome and more!
Join our tutor Alex Done, BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy on this workshop to learn in depth about the function of the shoulder and develop movement analysis skills to spot areas of dysfunction. We will then cover common conditions signs and symptoms and how we as instructors can provide a progressive or modified exercise plan to rehab or maximise overall shoulder function.
