Cherry Baker Edication is collaborating with the YMCA to offer Reformer Training. After careful consideration, we chose this path to ensure our students’ insurance coverage.
Cherry plans to conduct a Trail Blazer CPD, allowing participants to experience the Reformer before committing to the full qualification. We are seeking four participants for this opportunity.
The course includes three days of training with Cherry at the Pilates Studio in Glossop. If you decide to pursue assessment later, you will need to complete an additional day and assessment which we are planning for 2025.
For those without access to a reformer, the Pilates Studio Glossop can arrange practice sessions on their equipment. It is essential to engage in both teaching practice and personal practice during the course.
Modern Pilates Reformer
- Induction and introduction to the Reformer for teaching groups and one-to-one sessions
- Health and Safety:
- Running inductions to comply with insurance purposes
- Risk assessment on machinery for insurance compliance and client safety
- Running inductions to comply with insurance purposes
- Contraindications to using the Reformer:
- Is it suitable for everyone?
- Exercise breakdown and analysis:
- Assessing suitability for common conditions (e.g., hip replacement, back issues, osteoporosis, shoulder or wrist issues)
- Adapting exercises for specific clients
- Progressions from beginner to intermediate level
- Group lesson planning and one-to-one lesson planning
- Warm-ups and cool-downs:
- Importance of joint preparation before using the Reformer
- Observing clients standing and moving before they lay on the Reformer
Please note that this training is only available to teachers who have achieved a Level 3 Pilates mat qualification.
